Mr. [Unnamed Residence] Hall

It's Saturday morning and I'm just about to go to sleep. About 8 hours ago we had our 2nd Annual Mr. [My Residence Hall] Competition. I'm glad that we brought the pageant back to the Hall, and I'm glad that the residents have really taken to it the way that they have. I really liked the way that this turned out. The contestants were very passionate, very eager and committed to putting on a good show. It looked like we had more people in the audience than we did last year. And congratulations to the resident who won. I was extremely impressed with his monologue.

It's been a lot of work putting this together, and I wasn't even the coordinator of the event. I doubt that I could put together a pageant of my own. I am certainly not the creative type. So I have to give it up to the RA who put it together. For the past two years he's been in charge of organizing the pageant, and he's continued to do a great job. I would post the pictures now, but it's 5:30 in the morning and I just don't want to go through the trouble. I'll put them up later.

First Day of Classes

Everyone's moved in. I would have to say that it was a relatively smooth process. There were some bumps in the road, but overall I would say that it was better than last year. The only problem that I've been having is that my building was overbooked and now we're scrambling to find rooms for students who are sent here. I think we have it under control though. Now it's just all about getting them situated to their environment and onward to their classes.

It's strange. Right now I am just a university employee. This is the first semester that I haven't taken classes in years....years. I don't know what I'm going to do with myself this year just working without having any classes to take. It'll take some getting used to. Maybe I'll just sit in my office more, read more, do all the things I've been meaning to do.
